Improvement Location Permit

The city requires a permit for any location improvement projects in the city limits
The permit cost is $15 and requires the form be filled out ad tured in to city hall

ORDINANCE NO. XVII

An ordinance to regulate the erection of buildings, so as to insure safety from fire.

Be it ordained by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Lowry City, Missouri, as follows:

Sec. 1             
It shall be unlawful for any person to erect, within the limits hereinafter defined, any building, more than ten feet square, or eight feet high, unless the outer walls thereof are constructed of iron, stone, brick and mortar, or some of these materials, eight inches thick, in a building less than twenty feet in height to the eaves, twelve inches thick in a building less than forty inches additional thickness for each additional twenty feet in height, and unless the roof is covered with some noncombustible material.

Sec. 2.           
Erections mentioned in the preceding section, shall include removals from one lot to another.

Sec. 3.            
Any person who shall violate section one of this ordinance shall on conviction thereof, be fined in a sum of not less than ten nor more than one hundred dollars.

Sec. 4.            
The blocks in which no building such as prohibited in section one of this ordinance shall be erected is blocks six (6), seven (7), and ten (10) and what is known as center block in the city of Lowry City, original town.

Sec. 5.            
Whenever any building shall be erected or in progress of erection, in violation of section one of this ordinance, on any of the blocks mentioned in section four, the mayor shall notify its owner in writing to either remove it, or alter it so as to comply with the requirements of this ordinance, and if such notice be not complied with within ten days, the mayor shall cause such building to be removed at the owner’s expense, the material removed to remain in charge of the city until the expense of its removal is paid; and if not paid within five days from after satisfying the expense of removal and sale, paid over to the owner of the building.  Such auction shall be held at a time and place designated in a notice to be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the city.

Sec. 6.            
This ordinance shall not be construed to prohibit repairs to building already erected.

Sec. 7.            
This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
